Flavourfresh Salads in Banks near Southport are one of the leading growers of speciality tomatoes for the supermarkets. They have just completed the latest phase of development at their Aldergrove nursery. This large scale project for LS Systems was project managed from start to finish by Sales Director Darren McDonald.
Our involvement began with the renovation of an existing pumphouse area with the installed works of a 68,000 litre capacity water storage tank to feed a fertiliser injection rig. The water and fertiliser was then treated through an automatic filtration unit. The water was then fed to the tomato plants by a pressure compensated non-leakage dripper system. The tomato plants are grown in a rockwool slab which sits on our installed suspended guttering system from the greenhouse structure. We have created a dedicated fall on the gutters to collect water run-off for re-circulation.
Throughout the greenhouse we have used the latest energy sav
ing screens to provide automatically controlled conditions. The installation and commissioning of the project was within time constraints and budget and is a showcase of the latest developments that we can offer the grower to improve their crop growing for the future.
